Shockwave Therapy

Treat chronic conditions with Shockwave Therapy at Pro Feet Podiatry in & around Melbourne

Shock wave therapy (ESWT) is a progressive treatment option used to help with chronic conditions which affect all parts of the body. Shock wave therapy helps to stimulate the body’s natural healing factors to the painful affected area.

Radial shockwaves are high-energy acoustic waves passed on from a handpiece held against the skin and dissipated outwards into the underlying tissues.

It is used in podiatry to treat a number of conditions; Plantar Fasciosis, Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendinosis, Achilles Tendinitis, Shin Pain, Morton’s Neuroma, Metatarsalgia, and more.

There are two main actions of shock wave therapy:

Increasing blood flow to the area to enhance healing

The depletion of substance P, which is responsible for pain.

The treatment sessions are up to 10 minutes in length, in which you can be given up to 3000 pulses during each treatment.

Many patients get pain reduction after the initial one to two sessions although most people require 4-6 sessions over a 1-2 month period for pain relief and to get back to their normal activity.

We are proud that there are no additional costs for shock wave therapy.
