What do your loading patterns say about you?

October 25, 2018

When we talk about loading patterns, we are referring to the transfer of load through your feet. This might not seem like a big deal, but depending on your activity, the load going through particular structures can be in excess of 300% of your body weight!

If that load is moving through structures that can’t handle that amount of force, then the structure is said to become overloaded, and may be at risk of progressing into an injury. A one-off increase in load through a structure is not going to lead to injury, but it is more the accumulation of that load over time that WILL develop into an injury – an OVERUSE injury.

Overuse injuries can take a long time to heal and can impact on your activity goals. This is why at Pro Feet Podiatry, we invest in technologies that not only assist in treating conditions affecting the foot and ankle, but also help in the prevention, identification and modification of risk factors.

We use video gait analysis and a 3D pressure mat assessment as part of every new client’s assessment and existing clients assessments. This is so we can identify any risk factors, that may be affecting a current injury or increasing their risk of any other injuries. This allows us to be proactive in helping us keep you active, healthy, and happy.
